Re: CIP:DEFE^Veh Which route to take

I'd say Earth would be a good option then, it takes remarkably low skill to get friendly summons from a Stone of Earth Elementals, if you find one, and you can just work on Charms skill more to get air buffs viable. Besides, if going for the extended game, a power to deconstruct or shatter walls hel...

Re: Help a noob Conjurer

There are a few different options for Conjurers, but they can be tricky to play due to lack of utility. If you're certain of going for offensive magic, Vehumet is your bread & butter god of choice. Deep Elves are a bit frail but lower spell hunger the easiest due to absurd intelligence, and have...

And you'd be correct, now that I look at my character with Haste. My bad.

Ouch. Good reason to have flight active in the Abyss, or something to that effect.

Re: CIP:DEFE^Veh Which route to take

The air versus earth thing here would mainly be up to what kind of utility you want. That being said, some spells do pierce through resistances, like Bolt of Magma, but only partially. You'd really need to focus on it to make it work, though even with just conj/fire magic you could cast it reliably ...

Re: Vampire - Bat Form Rocks

Ironically bat form is pretty weak. But yes, high evasion makes close-quarters-combat very Fun! As long as the enemy to-hit doesn't tap into that 5%-some chance to hit and actually smashes you. Fortunately, bat form -is- good at running away.

Re: CiP VpEn Overpowered so far

The longer you stay with good ol' Oka, the more likely you are to get something good, but even so, Okawaru's wrath is easy to manage. Jiyva's on the other hand is rather mean. Unfortunately the more common options for late-game like Zin or TSO aren't available to you. Makhleb isn't too reliable unle...

Re: When to use utility spells?

Do remember that Haste speeds up -all- actions so it tends to pay off to cast it first and then the rest of the spells. Just keep failure rates in mind, don't wanna accumulate magic contamination by miscasts + haste contamination. I mostly play characters with super-high EV so I can afford to cast a...

CIP -> YAVP SpAM A very satisfying first victory.

I'm somewhat of a newbie at this game, I often could beat lair and/or orcish mines, but never got too far. My best run had me as a SpIE dying to Aizul when he managed to sneak a Sleep spell past my very high MR. But then, this happened. Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup version 0.11.2 (tiles) character file....
