Regen is especially important in extended areas like Abyss, Pan, Hells, Tomb, and the Orb run. Recovering any missing hp during combat is good when new enemies spawn into your LOS all the time. I don't think it's good, -9 MP is a lot. If it seems like a lot when you're primary offensive spell is 1MP and 3MP wait until you learn venom bolt. At high levels -9MP is even significant at times, but by then you'll likely have found a better ring anyway.

You don't take Trog, you start with Trog. You're comparing a D1 berserk and a lair 1 +8 vamp greatsword to a D7 AS or even worse a D7 pain and a Lair 8 AD.

To be fair, firestorm being 8d20 is only 80 average damage. If we assume you have rF+, and I'm remembering correctly that firestorm was 45% unresistable, you would take 67.5% damage, or 54 damage, with 0 ac. With 20 ac you'd take 40.5 damage. I don't think a bad situation is necessarily limited to one fight. For example, getting shafted, uncontrolled tele, abyssed, etc.

That's correct. Getting into a possibly deadly situation is much more difficult if you have every (notable) item generated in the dungeon in your inventory.

Item destruction was not fun for players, so even if it allows for more depth to gameplay that doesn't matter, since the fact that it was no fun greatly outweighed any gains from it existing. The vast majority of the playerbase agrees with this. I think players are missing the forest for the trees....

Enchant armor depends I think. A point of AC is the same wherever it comes from so you should use it on things that you are less likely to replace later.
