So I was playing the trunk and I found out that now kobold hunters start with tomahawks instead of crappy darts. So i guess this was made because darts were rarely useful after d:1 but are they actually 'good' like javelins?

I always played IE as a blaster and I never had big uses of those utility spells from the first book out of summon ice beast.
So, my question is, are these utility spells useful until lategame where you have 27 ice?
