HE are also one of only 2 races who enjoy positive apts in both Fighting and Spellcasting (the other being Og), which is another reason they can train a little extra Fighting to compensate for the -1 HP.

HE have pretty big HP malus and also a noticeable XP malus, which means their HP/depth ratio is not very good! I have never found their XP rate to be problematic, esp considering the very strong apts. I wouldn't call -1 HP a "pretty big" detriment, esp when considering comparably magic-af...

Right-clicking on skill screen

Right clicking on skill screen used to do the same thing as typing a capital letter (i.e. putting 100% into the clicked skill while turning off all other skills), but now it simply closes the screen (in offline tiles .17 stable).

Was this intentional? It's kind of annoying.

I'm a little worried that this nerfs them too much, but there's also a concern about them being a relatively common one-shot-kill against squishier species. I see race choice as a difficulty slider for the class/play style you're looking to play.

Want an easy Wz or a hard Fi? Play a DE.
Want the opposite? Play an Mi.

It's part of crawl's meta more than the game itself.
