Hey there and welcome. A bit of etiquette for the tavern, put your character dump in [ code ] tags, makes it much easier for folks to read.

For a transmuter, I would stick with lighter armour. Heavy armour affects your to-hit for unarmed AND makes it hard to cast your spells.

the buckler is worth using? I have a good deal of slaying, so maybe my offhand punch is better, I dont know.
