They also have a much higher base damage for piercing AC and a higher skill cap for going super late game. In the late game, longbows are simply better. Vaults and Royal Jelly require your character to have a fairly high power level to do safely. Abyss can almost always be done with careful play, even if your power level is low, because the average number of tele scrolls you'll have to burn is about half as much as the number that generate in Abyss...

If you just want to win a centaur, then I recommend CeBe obviously. For almost every species Be is the most straightforward and user-friendly option, the exceptions are Fe Op DE Sp Fo Mu and Gh, I hope I did not miss any. Whenever I play the new versions, I find like 5-6 potions of haste in a whole game, and like 10 in an all-rune run. So my problem is not that I don't use them enough, quite the contrary: I would like to haste a lot more.
