Your current character can kill a hundred yaks without using a single mana, just hitting them with the staff of fire. So I guess we are talking about a different character (an imaginary "pure caster") or something tougher than yaks.

My first character that got into a rune branch, a SpEn, found an orb spider in the middle of a large room. You can amnesia spells like ice form and spider form to free up spell slots.

Also, read unknown scrolls to identify them.

Also, use [Code] tags for the character dump instead of spoiler, that way it's properly formatted.

Zigs can be dangerous, especially for a melee-only character, and especially for a melee-only character with berserkitis. It is probably OK to try the first few floors, but what for? I would certainly go for the win.

A GnBe is pretty frustrating. You get all those book with great spells you could use for free but you can't. Compared to a HuBe, you have much lower skills. A staff of fire is a good melee weapon. If you train like 10 staves and 10 evo skills, you can kill almost all monsters except those who have rF+. Do we really want all good Crawl players to have a perfect 100% winrate? Because this seems to be OP's goal This is exactly what happened when the fighter background was given a potion of might to start with. Before that, the players' winrate with fighters was around 2%, then it became 100%. Amazing!
