Yes, certainly read a blink scroll, but blink to where and then what? How on Earth did that orb of fire get behind you? It is an idea to blink next to the teleport trap and then step on it. It might bring you to safety, but it's not a guarantee. Also, next time try not to fight berserk orb guardians...

In this case, the killer was a spark wasp. As far as I know insects can't be pacified for some extremely dumb reason. I agree that monsters in the Lair rune branches tend to be somewhat stronger than monsters in the late dungeon. In my opinion, they are not "somewhat" stronger, they are much-much stronger. Every Lair branch is full of debilitating monsters that can murder you in a flash. In Spider there ...

About the difficulty spike: I second those who tell you that there are no difficulty spike around the first rune (or elswhere). I am quite surprised at this. In my experience, there is a significant difficulty spike at this point. Granted, some D:15 endings are quite tough (fire giant, frost giant)...

I've checked the site again. The thing that I like the least is the way banners are shown. In the old system, you actually collected banners. In the new system you cross out lines on a page full of text. This feels a lot worse.

Those iron grates are a relic of the past, when not only digging but also disintegration could be used to break them, and also the low level spell LRD. Nowadays onéy digging remains. That vault should just be removed.
