This may be a little out there and more code to implement but what if V:5 had a a -Tele, the welcoming party was made up of various monsters not just vault guards, or the whole opening the corners (I really like that idea).

Diversify you're elemental spell selection so you don't even up struggling with elemental resisting enemies because you're dumb.

It seems you have a pretty much failsafe immediate escape with ?blink. Saving it for a hydra may make sense but does getting killed by this cyclops make more sense? Simple choice to me.

Something that could be added to the shout menu, once you have taken the things you want. Give your orcs a command to equip themselves with what is laying about on the floor, this allows them to upgrade equipment following the current algorithm or something new...without adding in much micromanageme...

If cTele is removed for the various reasons dpeg listed, perhaps the cBlink can be rewritten into scBlink. This would avoid devaluing the translocations school as others have pointed out, however it does limit the power of the spell. Perhaps a nerf in this fashion would be a good intermediate test b...
