Re: A Little Opinion Manifesto...

I agree for the food/hunger , it's probably the only thing i don't like in Crawl, how hunger is too important on the gameplay, i would prefer to focus on battles and the tactical aspect instead of having to butcher everything and eat each 5 minutes to keep my character from going hungry constantly (...

I really wish I could see stuff like monster's hp, or especially my damage on every hit , not just comments like "you hit em hard" I have enabled this for wizard mode. No more needed to suffer the debug spam just to see the damage numbers. Hello, I downloaded a window tile version of trun...

DM : You arrive in a dark dungeon, there are small sounds that makes you cautious. DM : just in front of you is a big rat with obviously hostile intent. Just my opinion on a raw differentiation (no gimmicks) between living, zombies and skeletons for a same monster Quickness: skeletons > living > zombies Hardness: zombies > living > skeletons Damage: living > zombies = skeletons ? If think it is very good. Simple but efficient at giving each version...

Is it possible that the monsters AI face the same situations as a player : drinking an unknown potion (for the better or the worst) as a last resort when facing a near death situation (same as reading an unknown scroll too) , or are the monsters always 100% using only identified items ?

Would it be possible to have a killed harpy actually dropping the food that was stolen by it ? this way it gives a chance to the player to actually get back his possession if he didn't teleported away (maybe having the harpy actually eating the food after a specific amount of turns to give a sense o...

Is there a limit on the amount of people playing Webtiles ?

It looks like when there's around 15 or a bit more players, i get the "websocket connection was closed" message , or i get the player list but there's no name/password entry anymore.

Re: Are stashes in Lair really safe?

Yes, early in the current tournament i made the mistake to forget the "never make a stash on Lair:1, make it in Lair:2". Result, at some point i went back to my stash to get some objects to prepare for a branch and i found 4 jelly that had spawned on Lair:1 while i was away. And obviously ...

I often noticed that either my character can't find anything really good until at least midgame (well for the most lucky ones that didn't die before that), while sometime i find very good equipment and items before Lair (and those are usually the characters that survive a lot longer than usual).

Nice to know that regeneration mutation does not cause hunger, it saved my Deep Elf so many times that i didn't wanted to drink one of my cure mutation potion even despite the -10% health , fearing that bad luck would keep the -10% health and delete my regeneration 2. If it does not increase nutriti...

I played many time mummy Chaos Knight of Makhleb, and i can't remember a single time in which i used Greater/Major Destruction, not because it's too random in how many time it hit (until you have a high invocation), but simply because it is costing piety. When people play with Maklheb, more likely i...

I like Hive personnally and don't find it boring because it's a branch that serves as a good revenge against those bees, for all the time you met some of them or worse a nest and had too low level/bad items/bad health to be able to fight two or more without serious chance of being dead in the end :)...

I played several time a Mummy Chaos Knight of Maklheb and usually had some nice result with this combo. The way it is presented in both this thread and in the brainstorm page, i think it is truly an excellent idea, as it adresses indeed a part of Crawl that is too opaque to the player, leading often in some frustration in term to weapon choices in comparison to skill level/bonus/malus/brand, on the vi...

Most of my Crawl games are played with : Kobold : nice for his ability to eat anytime he wants when you wants to play it as a caster so it can fight spell hunger at anytime, and always fun to throw poisonned things (and use blowguns) with it. Demigods : dull gameplay, too slow to progress , no religion power, no flavor. Hopefully some of the many very interesting ideas on the brainstorm pages will one day make it into Crawl, it would make the specie finally interesting. Halfling : play the same as Kobold, but unlike Kobold they can't eat...
