On my Droid 4 running Gingerbread, the vol+/vol- keys don't do anything. I have a physical keyboard so I can use Shift commands, but I don't have any way of doing Ctrl.

These are the branches you could tackle right now without major problems:
Swamp
Shoals
Vaults
Dungeon up to about 20
Crypt

It's really up to you which order you do these in. Don't do Swamp:5, Shoals:5, or Vaults:8 until you've cleared all the rest of these.

I play on a laptop without a separate numpad and I hate the vi keys. I have learned to use the numpad while holding down the Fn key. It works really well once you get used to it and I am actually more efficient with it than I am on my desktop, since I don't have to move my hands across the keyboard ...

I really like unseen horrors as they are. I think making monsters actively move while invisible may be too strong, at least on Sigmund. I think the better solution is to have invisibility occur more often on monsters that don't appear in large packs.

If you make a different skill than Fighting increase HP, then casters are just going to increase that skill instead. Yeah, player constriction is way too strong. My lvl11 NaGl of Chei was killing slime creatures and yaks faster with a war axe than my lvl27 Mf with a demon trident.

You should be able to survive until level 3 with a trident and proper use of throwing items. Once you get there, you can berserk, which should carry you through the early game no problem.

I'd try wizards with the book of flame. You have better offense and utility than venom mages get, but you still have Mephitic Cloud. Pretty much every spell in the starting book is good.
