[CiP] Promising HaHu of Okawaru

Hi Tavern! Long time no see... I haven't played Crawl since 0.9 version times I believe. Yesterday I decided to kill some time with it and welp, I'm hooked to this damn game again! I have been trying HaHu for some time now and finally I have a really great going one. I know it's a bit early but I ha...

Re: Something a little more... interesting.

Is Tm really worthwhile for a Troll? It seems that the damage bonus from Blade Hands isn't all that much more than just claws alone... is it worth the skill points invested in Tm? I've seen Statue Form troll performance. The melee damage that beast was delivering was the highest I EVER saw during m...

Re: [CIP] Promising VpEn of Makhleb

Well, the Spriggan's Knife isn't that great. In fact, I can think of numberous better weapons for an enchanter including certain quickblades, a normal vampiric dagger, weapons of pain, etc... so I'd stay on the look out. Long Blades is a good alternative to stabbing. Certain uniques will sometimes ...

Re: Mountain Dwarf Fighter Guide

I echo Elyvilon as a superb choice for MDFi at early game. In fact one of my very few victories in this game came with as an Elyvilon dwarf converting to TSO for late game and it was a very easy game overall. 1) Ely's abilities are crucial and positively life-saving at early to mid-game. I can't rem...

Thanks for the advice :)

I was using the scimitar and the Robe of the Archmagi but now thinking about it, Leech + Resistance would be better.

Seems like I'll stay with Sif Muna. I've found Book of Demonology anyway.

One thing to also consider for a KoBe is a ranged weapon. Crossbows are a good choice for kobolds as they have +2 attitude in it. You are very unlikely to run out of bolts between yaktaurs and Trog's gifts and silver bolts are especially awesome against undead enemies.

Meph Cloud is overrated. Yes it's very useful in the early game, but by mid-game its ineffective because high HD monsters and rPois. Try to take on a Death Yak with just Meph Coud and Magic Dart and you'll see what I mean. I'd still say Air Elementalists have the best starting book for a pure spellc...

Blink is a must-have in the long run. And personally I've never had, really, any success with shock at all. I know you're supposed to bounce it, but, I mean, you take damage in doing so. Screw that, especially as a glass cannon. Once you get a rElec item or the Insulation spell Shock and Lightning ...

On a quick blade or other fast weapon (like whips, etc), you want an additive brand (like electrocution, pain, distortion) because you get a lot of attacks with it and so the effect will be applied more times. On a big, heavy weapon like an executioner's axe, you want a multiplicative brand (like f...
