Re: Local DCSS lags when processing commands

Hm, I ran a complete virus scan, including boot-time and rootkit, with three AVS programs, then uninstalled them all... no luck.
Was worth a shot though :(

Local DCSS lags when processing commands

Hi, I was hoping one of the gurus here could help me out with a problem that's got me totally stumped. A few weeks ago, I noticed DCSS -- which I only ever play offline -- was encountering lag-like delays when performing certain actions in-game. The delays behave like the strain one gets when one pl...

Re: There are sacrificable items here, ignore them?

Fantastic; worked for me to just remove the comment on my explore_stop line.

Thanks for the prompt help!

There are sacrificable items here, ignore them?

Anyone know how to disable this autoexplore prompt (without turning on autosacrifice)?

It didn't exist in the version I was playing (0.11, console, offline) before upgrading (now 0.12, console, offline).

Would be grateful -- it makes playing Nemelex REALLY spammy and awkward. :)

Re: How exactly does one use 'Beserk?'

(I was expecting this to be a snarky thread pointing out a typo in the interface somewhere.)

Silliness aside, did you get everything figured out? Roguelike interfaces can be quite bewildering if you're new.

Re: The meanest normal pan level?

Holy Pan monsters are something I wish we could see more of without having to go to Pan to see it. Ophanim are neat; would it be the end of the world to show them off in some dungeon vaults or something? And shedu and phoenixes are so mechanically unique, but I bet plenty of players have never spott...

Do you have an rElec source? I see 2 pots of resistance but that leaves only a slim margin of error for those electric golems. Don't underestimate them; they can really ruin your day.

Regarding Brothers, really, don't hesitate to let it fly if you have even a moderate suspicion that the enemy or enemies in front of you will be causing you anguish. Trog piety is a rapidly renewing resource, and once you get some nice armor to hide behind you won't be taking all that much damage to...

so Roshuum is a god who dislikes noisy, tumultuous chaos, and his six star ability allows you to invoke all of the noisy, tumultuous chaos in the universe. a'ight, a'ight. is this like one of those twists where it turns out the god of honesty is actually just the best liar in the universe, or the g...

I like this -- one of the most disappointing things about the mutation system is that you never see the upper levels of mutations. Seconded, seconded, seconded. I've logged hundreds of games and plenty of tier-3 mutations are still just a rumor to me. Does that teleport-at-will mutation even still ...

Preying Mantis - A large insect predator, duly named for its Praying-like attitude. A simple insect monster could be added to pester new characters before reaching the Lair. I imagine it would be like a Worker Ant except it doesn't Poison and it hitting you with slow but accurate scythe-like moveme...

Re: Roshuum, Lawful Stealthy God

One thing I know for sure is that it's much easier to admire the final product that devs and contributors have spent hundreds of hours detailing and polishing than it is to try to fire a shot out of the dark and hope to match it. I like the silence-themed idea. If there's one part of the proposal th...

Thanks for the replies so far! Cerebov, I can definitely see where you're coming from, though you'll have to direct me to wherever-the-current-discussion-about-Hexes is to gauge how I would modify the proposal in light of it. Whenever I've used Hexes, I've always found them rather poor alternatives ...
