My goals with this character were: I wanted to win with a high evasion, low GDR character, I wanted to win high evasion, low GDR with Uskayaw, and I wanted to win short blades without Trog and without branching into summoning. This was an experiment as much as a goal; I've largely ascended heavy arm...

I'm playing a DGTm right now, and notice Blade Hands is in the starting spellbook, which it didn't used to be. Back in the day, Blade Hands was an end-game quality spell. Is it still? Is my "Zot weapon" right here in my starting spellbook? If so, I like the change. Blade Hands was always m...

Nice rings. I just won a MiFi of Okawaru without Haste the spell, but I did have a wand that I used while ascending. You don't need to have it, but it's a really good spell . I just cannot stand the AE earlygame of "you have to keep running away with swiftness to get double-zap positions with shock/lightning bolt". Starting as a Wz, VM or Cj and then getting to Tornado is just as viable. IDK, it's pretty darn nice to have a level 4 nuke in your starting book. ...

Tornado is NOT like Ice (or Fire) Storm. The awesomeness of Tornado lies in the fact that it keeps on killing things while you also are killing things in other ways. Those other ways are NOT orb of destruction. That said, Summon Shadow Creatures is the best Zot spell ever that you didn't spend XP to...

Dying of poison early on tends to be from a misplay. Early kobolds can be pulled into melee range by using corners and you can usually just shake off the 1 or 2 hits of poison... but 3 or 4 hits of poison from charging them can kill you. Also a lot of players waste their curing potions by sipping t...

CBoE can still misfire at max evocations. Not often, but often enough that you'll want to carry a staff of channelling for backup. Try to use CBoE when you're above 1/2 mp and it'll work brilliantly almost every time. You'll be drowning in curing pots by the time you hit extended, so confusion isn't...
