Re: DEIE - standing on the Orb, thinking about post-end game

Took me 55 pan levels to get all 5 runes in my last game. But yeah, pan can get a little exhausting. At least the levels usually don't take very long to clear.

Re: New dialogue for Singing Sword

"Now if only you could find the Lying Lute, Drunken Drums, and Babbling Bagpipes we could get the band back together!" "So we can leave the dungeon now right? Come on, I am way more rare and powerful than any Orb of Zot." "Hey monsters! He's over here!" "Maybe I ca...

Re: Reserved MP for summons

I guess my question then is why do people prefer duration based summons over semi-permanence. Haven't I already answered that? To differentiate summons from permanent allies. If you want to "protect limited assets that you form a connection to", play Beogh or Yred. That actually didn't an...

Re: Reserved MP for summons

Fair enough, my knowledge about how monsters and their AI functions with regard to abilities is limited. From a design perspective I prefer the idea of player and monster mechanics working similarly as to give the design transparency and improve the player's understanding without having to reference...

Reserved MP for summons

After reading about the summoning change to allies only attacking in player LOS and the problem of summon spamming being overpowered I got thinking about a possible change. What if summons reserved a portion of your max MP equal to the spell level? This would limit your maximum allowed summons like ...

Re: DEIE - standing on the Orb, thinking about post-end game

Usually once I have high evocations I use CBoE after 2 casts of high level spells as IIRC the chance of successfully restoring mp is based on your current percentage. With Vehumet you can afford to maybe get a third casting out before spending a turn using the orb. Just make sure if it goes poorly y...

Re: Generic Brainstorming!

After my recent MfGl of fedhas win killing hell lords with oklobs I got to thinking about a new enemy. Hell oklobs! or Hellklobs or something. Like oklobs but they shoot hellfire. Or acidic hellfire. Hell acid? Maybe that would be too cruel...

Re: DEIE - standing on the Orb, thinking about post-end game

It may just be personal preference, but with all of that earth magic built up I would suggest a staff of earth, staves 12, and pump up evocations for using a crystal ball of energy. On my 15 rune casters so far the cboe has been entirely worth the training in evocations and having a melee attack tha...

Re: Battle for Wesnoth

I used to play quite a bit of wesnoth actually, though only a dozen online games or so. Eventually I broke the habit of save scumming the campaigns and had more fun with them doing it legit. I could be convinced to play again if I had some people to play with regularly.

I used it once with boots of running on a MiGl to kite the royal jelly to death without ever getting into melee. Niche usage certainly but amusing and memorable.

Re: YAVP! 15 rune SEEE of Ash

Overall it was fun. LRD and Shatter are more enjoyable spells than fire/ice storms. I should have raised conjurations a little to read the book with LCS in it but I forgot that was a requirement while playing. I managed without it but probably would have put down some pan and hell lords quicker than...

YAVP! 15 rune SEEE of Ash

My second spellcaster to complete a 15 rune win, my first was a NaIE of Vehumet in .9 My other 15 rune winners have been MiGl and NaGl of TSO (need to win a melee of a new god next) I think I prefer pure melee characters but EE of Ash was a nice change of pace, with plenty of melee smackdown once I ...
