Anecdotal evidence isn't worth much but for what it's worth, my last 6 wins have all had Powered by Death. Maybe that's more a testament to my playing style than actual overpoweredness, but currently it seems like this mutation is massively superior to anything else Demonspawn get.

Used it 4 times before lair, but I'm not sure why we're limiting it to 'before lair.' If you had a weak character, teleport other would be pretty good for getting rid of Lair baddies that you don't want to fight. Also good against low MR orcs- it's a lot easier to get the Orc 4 shops at a low level ...

I do this sometimes and think this approach is a reliable way to make crawl more intense. I still make stupid mistakes though, so while I'd dive for 'fun' I think even accounting for boredom it's still probably safer to explore everything.

You're right about the demonic areas, but Jiyva has uses in Tomb because you CAN slimify mummies. Of course you won't have enough piety to slimify ALL the mummies, but if you're forced to stairdance multiple Greater Mummies/Mummy Priests, being able to Slimify some of them quickly is very good.
