Kiku also used to be a somewhat stronger choice for that (guaranteed sublimation, and infinite supply of corpses if you want to use them instead of your HP). I used to play dedicated conjurers a lot, and (unless you want to waste a lot of turns), IMO a major part of the strategy for those is finding a good way to restore your MP.
