I find throw icicle also tends to miss more. I think it's a slightly better spell than IMB though, and it really should be (IMB is pure conj, which makes it easier to cast at high power for more characters).

It only protects against spells like confuse, paralyse, banish, etc. All spells that give you some sort of negative status. It does not do anything to protect you against damage spells.

I have noticed the same thing as you. I played a NaWz of sif and wore an amulet of faith most of the game, which meant I got a ton of spellbooks. Early on, most of them were spells I could actually use, in schools I had a lot of skill in. It seems skills do get taken into account.

As far as I know, you can't. Usually the glow isn't worth worrying about though. Note that even if it takes you into yellow, your chances of being mutated are slim if you stop blinking as soon as it goes yellow.

Right now blank scrolls add nothing to the game. They are one (of a few) items that could be removed with no loss to the game whatsoever. Actually, in this case removing them would be more of a gain than anything. I agree with everyone who says they ought to be removed.

That's all you get from it. Meaning, instead of doing 4 damage, it does 4.5. Not a very good brand on daggers.
