I recently had a YAISD (I = incredible) when my HeGl succumbed to poison. I had a potion of heal wounds left! As my recent chars were trolls, trolls and trolls again who easily overcome poison by intrinsic regeneration I'm not used to deal with this problem.

Gold dragon armour (including Dragon King) is overestimated very often. As its EV- and spellcasting penalty causes trouble I wouldn't think about it even if you had much higher strength. Wearing it would make all your spells uncastable.

UC without claws is good in extended. UC with claws is extremely good. Blade hands and dragon form are even better. So dragon form is another idea.
