Re: Needles of Sickness

They're no curare, but are nice in conjunction with poison against trolls and other monsters with hyperactive health regeneration.

Re: cerebovssquire does Youtube?

Dpeg - yeah I get that, and I agree. I guess my situation is just different... I have mild RSI and being able to use the mouse to move to an explored part of the map without having to pressing a few keys a lot of times helps. Plus, being able to see monsters' equipped weapons saves time in a fight w...

Re: cerebovssquire does Youtube?

As a long-time rogueliker (grew up on ADOM), I can appreciate the console version, but when there is such a NICE tiles version available as there is here, why not go for the BMW instead of putting around in the Golf? I don't mean to be antagonistic, but out of curiousity: what does console have that...

Re: cerebovssquire does Youtube?

Minmay- assuming new players to Crawl hadn't played any other roguelikes, why would playing console allow them to better recognize monsters than with the tiles version? The name of the monster shows up in the dialog box at the bottom anyway when they come into view, attack, et cetera.

Any other artists like that?

Good lord man, just use Fraps. Been using it for years. In Settings: record full-size, 30 fps, use external mic. The process cannot be made any easier.

Q about spell power caps

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes. Does the ability to land a spell on an enemy that requires a check against their magic resistance continue to go up even after maximum spell power is reached for that spell if I continue to increase the governing spell school skills for that spell? ...

Re: RNG, why have you forsaken me?

Well Step out of Time worked a charm - made Mennas fall asleep in a corner of one of the mini vaults. However, that character later fell to orbs of fire and ancient liches on Zot:5. RIP Vorin. May your wand of teleportation have more charges next time.

Didn't think of Step out of Time... Was just planning to stair dance them like I always do. Will really suck if Step doesn't make at least Mennas go away, though lol.

Blacksheep: they are both artifacts, so no further enchanting.

Guess you guys are leaning more towards the chainmail, then.

RNG, why have you forsaken me?

Tell me how I have upset you, RNG, and I will try to make amends.

Whatever I have done, I am sure it does not warrant including Mennas in the V:8 welcoming party.

I'm thinking massive Slouch spam, but any advice would be very welcome.

+8 AC or +8% guaranteed damage reduction?

In general, which would it be better to have: 8 more AC or 8% more GDR? I have a +12 chain mail and a +4 plate armor. Obviously the chain mail will let me cast better, but just in terms of melee survivability, which would be preferable? If it's close, I would prefer the chain mail because I do want ...

First victory and boy... what a fight

I am ecstatic. I don't know how many hundreds of characters had to die to give me the knowledge I needed to get that orb to the surface, but it has been a blast. For a time I was obsessed with Octopode wizards and the idea of having eight rings. Alas, they were ultimately all too squishy or I never ...

FIRST VICTORY! But no dump file to be found...

This is simultaneously one of the happiest and saddest moments I can remember. I have been victorious in getting the orb to the surface, and was looking forward to seeing my dump file (the one the game is supposed to create automatically for you when you win). I searched everywhere for it, including...

Is it possible for there not to be a Swamp entrance anywhere in the Lair? I have auto explored all eight levels but can't find it this game. Shoals and the Slime Pit are here, though.

Fixed it. Turns out it's a problem with the installer version. Running the standalone console or tiles versions works A-ok.

Now if I can just figure out why the console version window is so tiny...

"C:/Users/... does not exist and I can't create it."

Experiencing what I imagine is a rather common problem, but could find no real help for it: I am getting the above message when I run the console version of DCSS (and the tiles version of the game is crashing before I can even see what happens, the cause of which is probably the inability to create ...
