One reason DDoor is crap for your character is because you'll be training necromancy to a very, very high level on a character that desperately needs points elsewhere. Like I said, you can make this work even with your crap defences - you just have to play much more careful. Don't overextend yoursel...

DDoor, imo, is never worth getting. Translocations are where it's at. If you can find the necessary spellbooks, cTele and blink will carry you through the whole game. Plus, if you get enough transloc training, you can get phase shift castable (and then you don't need to pump dodging!) You are right ...

Also, Jory is not necessarily just found in his castle, and he has LCS :o Even if you have a fancy antimagic executioner's axe to disable his spellcasting, he still hits really, really hard. 45 base + whatever weapon he has, + an additional 15 vampiric bite. Even with 30 AC + plate. and two brother...

I'm always wary of faith. Every time I equip one accidentally, I let out a groan of exasperation (unless it's an early game oka/trog, but that's the only exception). I like to have other things fill my amulet slot. Conservation, rCorr, rMut, and gourmand are all way more important than getting piety...
