Have Xom Explicitly Gift Ammo

In 0.25, Okawaru is the only god remaining that gifts ammo. For bows, crossbows, and large rocks there is sufficient ammo on the floor to (eventually) adopt a hunter lifestyle at all ranges. This is not the case for sling bullets and javelins and darts, sometimes even if Shoals spawns, though there ...

I want to know how stabbing works under the hood in 0.25. The wiki article is for 0.17 and refers to four stabbing tiers, but there have only been two stabbing tiers since 0.19. I have a suspicion that SpEE is a better stabber than SpEn. Petrify stab lasts longer because it has a higher spellpower cap, and you start with Sandblast instead of Corona, and your starting book has the tools to deal with hex-resistant monsters.

I've become persuaded that choosing Long Blades for the riposte is a trap. Ba is the only species that has LBl as its highest aptitude. Long blades do less damage than M&F and require more XP than Staves. So is there any reason for a background that chooses a starting weapon to choose Long Blades?
