Re: Trouble compiling crawl-tiles on PCLinuxOS

Correct me if Im wrong but, it should be "possible" to compile crawl on any linux distro, the only variable is how much work you have to do to make it work.
That said, I have no problem compiling crawl with tiles on my Arch Linux box. If you give me the output of make, i'll take a look.

Re: "Give Mountain Dwarves the axe"

I don't think a digging ability is a good idea, the dungeon shouldn't be too modifiable (the dig spell is problematic enough).
However a dwarf race with passive "sense gold" would be cool.

Edit: Ah ha! First. :)

Maybe drop the bubbles angle and try instead to make the walls look like a single homogeneous mass of slime. Slime oozing out of the wall could look great IMO. Re: New slime wall tiles?

de-grid is a must! And more variations. Otherwise, very good! Right now slime walls are just recoloured orcish mine/lair walls. Yeah, I think it will be tough to make a de-grided version of the current big-smooth-slimy-stone concept. The thing with de-griding tiles is that whenever a tile ends and ...

New slime wall tiles?

I was thinking of making a new set of wall tiles for slime, to give the branch a more slimy feel (it's also good since the walls in slime has corroding properties). So far I have made a mock-up with two variations of a wall tile: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2763964/slimywallmockup.png Remember that this...

Yep gimp is great (although it takes some time to get past the interface), It's what I've used for all the tiles I've submitted. To check the color in gimp: select the color with the "color picker tool" and double click on the active color on the toolbox. The select by color tool in gimp i...

Very, very good!
The only thing i can think of is the face. It's a little hard to make out the features of the face.
If you make the eyes and mouth larger I think the tile would be even better.

I would love to see this tile in-game.
Good Job!

Why would we need more levels? less levels are cleaner, the differences should be significant. Also by using the muta...

Ah, one more thing.
It's important when you make islands or enclosed rooms that you include a way to escape, such as an escape hatch. The players must not be able to trap themselves in an enclosed space.

Don't be discouraged! If we think that that there is too many of that kind of vault (I don't) we could always lower the weight of those vaults. The current lair floor tiles are very bright green, with a hint of dark red. I think that it would be more clear and easier on the eye (and look better) if we made the floor all gray-green.
