DCSS is really easy to compile. If you're on Windows, read INSTALL.txt and do the msysgit approach, NOT the cygwin approach (it won't work, period).

Monsters that know deflect missiles don't have to cast it, it's just always up all the time. If you x and position it over them (don't v) it will say something like 'deflecting missiles' in their status line where it would say things like hasted/slowed/berserked.

also isnt it counter-productive to choose dithmenos with nightstalker (at least lvl 3) since it reduces LOS and dith gives enemies -acc as well as teleport in ur LOS? or does easier sneaking outweigh that? Airstrike has a large damage bonus (I think +50%) against flying targets. So stop flying when fighting something that airstrikes!

They're a lot more dangerous than my first kills of them led me to believe. But that's because I had some resistance. I should have been alerted when the first volleys did so much surprising damage. It's hard for me to focus, sometimes. I was being watched, too, and that always seems to unnerve me....

I think having giant eyeballs exist in their current distribution is problematic, because when a random panlord or whatever busts them out on you you will have 0 prior experience and not know that their para is smite-targetted, irresistible, etc.
