Because realism is the funnest part of crawl and an implicit design goal, I find it very upsetting that my character never has to go to the bathroom. What happens to all that food he is eating? Does it get magicked away? Come on.

I think a lot of the fun in Crawl for me was having goals. First it was to reach certain branches, then to win, get first 15-runer etc. Last goal I had was to win every species but now it just feels like too much time investment and repetitiveness.

Something that helps me a lot is sticking to time limits. I like to play about an hour, and if I go longer I tend to make a lot more bad decisions. So that, and making it a habit to stop and cycle through your abilities and inventory whenever you're in a very threatening situation.

Even though I don't play anymore I'd gladly pay money for the game as it is. It's an amazing game that gives hours and hours of challenge and entertainment. But I think tainting the development with profit could only hurt the game. I see Crawl as a labor of love that doesn't aim at pleasing the lowe...

I always used to set playtime limit of an hour, but for mental rather than physical reasons. I imagine it might help though with repetitive strain.

We should introduce more currency into crawl besides just "gold".

I would cure the scrolls one, quaff the beneficials and then finish the game. With Draconian and that weapon should be cakewalk. Never done mutation roulette (I'm so boring), maybe someone else will chime in.

KOTOR2 has excellent story and dialogue... some of the same team as planescape: torment. I've played Renowned Explorers probably around 150 hours now and still enjoying it too.

That's part of the challenge is finding the best food and booze to increase your adventures. I guess it's better for people that like to play games in short bursts...
