Yeah, of course I had Trog's hand active , and of course I recharged my wand (I think I spent more than 15 charges and still was with red poison). Thanks for the advice, I don't know how it get that far. FWIW, it wasn't only Sonja, there were 2 or 3 elf summoners and their minions, some conjurers.....

Turning off Axes when the weapon you were using for melee was a weapon that you shouldn't have been using before skill level 18-20 can't have helped either. Nor being in Elf at that level. Not much to say, except I had the best armor I've ever seen (I'm kinda new at crawl): G - the +21 crystal plate armour of the Great Game (worn) {rC++ Dex+1} (You found it in the bailey) It affects your dexterity (+1). It greatly protects you from cold. Of course I died extremely poisoned from Sonja....
