Re: Lost webtiles PW

I've attempted to summon help from someone with server privileges, hopefully this can get reset for you. In the meantime you're free to open up alternate accounts on CDO, we actually have no rules about this, if you aren't worried about tracking your previous stats. And of course there are the othe...

Re: CIP: DECj skills question

"even with pure melee characters" meaning "oh yeah and I had over 200 HP", right Blade's statement absolutely makes sense. If you are willing to take a gamble of taking 50-100 damage each turn depending on your position, go ahead, but don't pretend it's a good tactical decision ...

Oh and electric golems can be pretty nasty too but by the time you meet them you can probably blow them up almost instantly. what. if your strategy for egolems is "I can probably blow them up almost instantly" then enjoy your loss. By the time you meet them they're manageable if you quaff...

Re: Marduk the fiery Demonspawn [CiP]

Bolt of Fire is very powerful. at max power you can 2 shot stone giants and usually 1 shot the higher end elves with the exception of blademasters.

Also don't tell anyone but Ignite Poison makes everything but anacondas just DIE in Snake pits. If you have access to that then enjoy.

Yeah only time I'm worried about rElec is Nikola and Lom Lobon. I always just quaff a potion of resistance for those guys. Oh and electric golems can be pretty nasty too but by the time you meet them you can probably blow them up almost instantly.

Re: CiP: MiBe -Pandemonium time, or maybe Abyss

Some of pandemonium and especially hell can be absolutely terrifying as a non-TSO pure melee fighter. Once you have a fiend tormenting you from behind 10 other enemies and no HP recovery on kills you wish you'd have angels and a holy weapon, especially if this is your first time in pan / hells.

You don't get 9 skills to 27, necromut on a berserker and 300k turns without some serious grinding. Congrats regardless.

Polearms after the reaching buff. Killing that tormentor or summoner thats hiding behind other enemies is god like. Not to mention getting a free attack or two in when the enemy is closing in on you.

don't mess around with monsters that constrict you if you don't have the damage output to put them down fast. I've lost 2 characters much stronger than that to constriction.

Can someone explain to me how you're supposed to play a DDee? I fired one up on a whim and now I'm at lair 7 with death yaks and elephants and no idea what I'm doing. Without vehumets mana from kills or sif munas channeling I run out of mana almost straight off the bat. I'm obviously not understandi...

Re: Webtiles nearly unplayable on Windows7

If other players' games aren't faster then (in my opinion) it's your system spec. If it's any form of network lag then it shouldn't really matter for a continuous stream of data like spectating. Ubuntu just works better because it's less resource intensive than Windows 7. It'd be good to hear from ...

Re: Webtiles nearly unplayable on Windows7

This is weird. I wasn't aware of the GPU canvas option in Chrome either. So I tried enabling it. Manually walking around the dungeon seemed the same as ever, perhaps slightly better. But the really strange thing: autoexplore was noticably slower. Normally it's pretty nippy, but with GPU acceleratio...

YASD: DECj looking for spoonfeeding

Alright I'm a terrible player. I've only played pure melee characters so far and playing a caster past the lair is an outlandish proposition to me. After YASD due to overconfidence as a MiFi I decided to fire up a conjurer and breezed through the early game. Found a spiders nest and volcano in the l...

Re: Webtiles nearly unplayable on Windows7

Is there a lag only when you move by hand, or are the steps slow even when autoexploring? Especially if you're not in Europe, there will be a certain amount of lag since CDO is located in Germany. Other ways to check this are pinging tiles.crawl.develz.org and trying to play via SSH. If you're sure...

Re: Webtiles nearly unplayable on Windows7

What spec is your machine (processor, graphics card)? Have you installed the latest versions of motherboard and graphics card drivers? Webtiles uses the html5 canvas system for rendering the graphics. This is always going to be way less performant than a proper native graphics library. So this migh...

I'm almost certain it has nothing to do with my internet connection. I have a 100/10 line with outstanding stability, never ever had any kind of packet loss or other issues with it. Webtiles nearly unplayable on Windows7

Hey, long time player and lurker first time poster here. I've been playing Crawl since 0.7 and just recently got into playing online after getting my first win offline. The problem is webtiles runs like absolute dirt on Windows 7 64 bit. I recently even did a fresh format and it still runs as bad. I...
