Ug, I had a big reply typed up, but my session timed out and I lost it. Anyway, now that I have the monkey off my back, I''ll be more than happy to explore more of the end game. Woohoo, I finally escaped with the Orb! Nothing fancy, I just got three runes and went for the Orb. Okawaru gifted me the lajatang fairly early on, and I immediately started training in staves. Although I found a pretty sweet executioner's axe later in the Vaults, by that time I was heavily into Sta...

Well, things have been coming along quite well. I got the barnacled rune from the Shoals without a problem, cleared out Elf, and have moved on to the Vaults. Hello Mister, you seem to be doing well, shoals is pretty dangerous. One could argue that it is the most dangerous of the four possible branches so it is not surprising that you had a close call, the mermaids and sirens remove your greatest strength : the ability to flee any bad battle. keep doing ...

Re: Proper use of Lantern of Shadows

I found a LoS with my CeHu. Should I be using it? For the most part, it seems like I'd rather be shooting things when they are farther away. From what I'm reading here, it sounds like maybe I should instead be allowing summoned shadows to kill things instead of trying to kill things myself. I've nev...

Well, after my Demonspawn Berserker bit the dust, I figured I needed a change of pace. So now I'm playing a big, beastly ranged character. The early going was interesting, and I struggled with managing to find enough ammo. A dagger of electrocution helped tremendously through the mid-levels, and the...

The longsword is kind of crappy compared to the others now that you've got some LB skill. Thorn hunters are terrifying, they do quite a lot of damage and stop you from retreating. Druid is also annoying, I believe it can recall monsters on the level to its location. If you were gonna berserk you sh...

Well, here it is, my final chardump. Looking over my message history, I'm not really sure what I was thinking. Thanks for the replies! I wasn't sure if the claymore would be the best considering that it was a pretty vanilla weapon, and electrocution is generally better on faster weapons. The solution, of course, is to remove the benefit from the tedious activity. If you alter the code so that amnesia also changes the descriptors of the potions, then writing them down provides no benefit. Voila, no tedium. Look at my post above. Copying your .lst file avoids this entirely, since the...
