I do have a question, though. I get that you are playing a Monk for the bonus piety, but why a Gargoyle? Is it because it's tough enough to survive the handicapped start and can fly for free later?

You have cBlink and dMissiles and Haste. You are plenty tough enough to do the extended game. Your resist are a bit on the low side, but I don't think that's too much of a problem.

Yeah, when I tried Tomb with a Fire Storming DS I learned DU thinking it'd be useful. Not so much. The lvl 9 nukes are way more effective when you can deal with their downsides.

Of course you can get a powerful DU much earlier than a reliable Storm spell, so there's that.

I was thinking that Darkness makes it less likely for summons to get in your way. The spell range becomes closer to the LoS range and there are less summonners in the area at any given time. Summons blocking the line of fire were my main problem with using DU to clear Tomb:3.

I remember how I learned that Traps was an essential skill. I was playing a DE blaster who was one of my very best character ever, demolishing evertyhing in the lair without any hint of trouble. And then I got one-shotted by a blade trap.
