I absolutely love rings of regeneration and I fondly recall a ghoul who had found two of them early game...really makes up for their slow healing. Sadly he is no longer with us, but I definitely love having one on all of my characters :) Grats again on the win!

I did end up going with the invis potion route because I was also fortunate enough to find an amulet of resist corrosion, so it wasn't too bad. 4 plants in all, killed the single plant on the right first, and after killing two on the left side, going invis didn't seem to stop the last left-side plan...

he already has the staff of energy, so he just needs fire/conjuration and he'd be fine. No hunger issues. Although I don't really think that a level 9 spell is too practical for 3 rune runs, but my mages all die around level 15 so I could be wrong ;)
