Having 7 in bows still gifts more bows than no skills in it, on average. But the ammo gifts kicks in at 8 in any specific ranged skill, which then overpowers all other gifts (very biased).

I believe wrong deck cards shouldn't happen with Nemelex. I once died from 56 dmg wrath card in a summoning deck that was gifted. When using cards a lot, that 1% chance pops up far too often.

An early dagger of pain or elec can certainly get someone to zot, especially if they're more magic oriented. And backstabs from sabres does high damage.

At 9ish+, try to use ice form against hard enemies, unless they are using fire. You can clear lair and swamp with ease using only that transmutation (be careful of fire drakes!). That mummy casting at a wall needed exp pool. It's based on exp put into spell schools. And piety gain was faster in early versions. If I remember right, long ago, you could also sac items on altar for piety. Good riddance to that.
