Not to mention I think it still stacks with demonspawn's night stalker mutation. That gives you a truly ridiculous enemy LoS. Combine in with Ash radar or antennae and you can easily lose almost anything.

You do know that Mu can instantly clear all rot and statloss for the cost of perma-MP, right? Give me a little credit. I had 3 stars on me, each conferring multiple mutations almost every turn. Say you're challenging yourself into running Trog in extended and have nothing else to put xp in. Disregarding the xp investment, is 1h+shield better then 2h? Different, you have significantly lower damage output but you'll be much tougher, especially with a good shield ego (resistance, reflection)...

I wouldn't say useless. Their block chance is hardly negligible and on top of it they are another slot for artifact bonuses. Crawlers hate them for two major reason. A. Probably not, no. Although if you focus more on conjuration you'll be able to use both. You don't want to be loading points into every tangential magic skill (poison, fire). Running away sucks, but its necessary for a DEWZ. Alternatively try focusing your skills more with micromanagement to make sure you can reliably spam mephitic cloud or useful high tier imps.

Don't know much about stabbing but a +4 dagger of protection seems way too weak for the point you're at in the game. Try to find something with a good multiplicative brand for stabbing. I use them quite frequently when worshipping Nemelex. Since he likes ID'd weapons better than non-ID'd I pick up huge quantities of glowing weapons, DC them, then equip through the ones that aren't cursed. A niche use, but I'd be sad to see them go.
