Re: CIP: Octopode Venom Mage | next steps?

Lair first might be better, I think you'd have a higher chance of finding books there/ vehumet will probably start gifting soon. You probably won't find any books in the mines til a shop on Orc:4 which can be pretty dangerous/unpredictable. Maybe go for ice beast/scorpions? If you want to go blasty ...

Re: CIP: MeBe has 9/15 (personal record) needs TOMB tips

Yeah pan first would be good! I'd turn hexes on because silence is awesome for a melee character trying to clear tomb.

Yeah I think it's only 90% effective vs attacks and poison spells but 100% vs clouds, potions, chunks, and maybe also poisoning due to Olgrep's Toxic Radiance(?).

Re: Image Loading Error

Maybe the tiles images aren't where they should be when using the installer. Perhaps try the non-installed version? eg the .zip that unpacks to a working self-contained crawl?

Re: Disabling rogue-like movement keys

I just tried it in trunk and it seems to only disable the letter keys, is numlock on? Alternatively could you disable both vi and numpad then remacro the numpad keys to the movement directions?

Re: Installing on Ubuntu

I think there's a 0.8 build in the ubuntu repository (in the synaptic application). If you'd like 0.9 I think there's a .deb file available on the download page. If you want to play trunk (the current developement version) the easiest was is to compile the source using git. There's some half-way dec...

Re: Dolls

There is! In trunk (maybe 0.9 too?) there's a mouseable button above the inventory called "Modify the player tile" click that then use the arrows to navigate the wardrobe choices. Alternatively the minus key "-" will open the same screen. Edit: After some experimenting you can ma...

Watch out for tile image changes (if applicable). Small changes can screw your save, especially if new are added or removed =/.

Re: linux, proprietary nvidia module, mouse lags using targe

I'm using linux (Crunchbang) with the nvidia drivers and have never had any problems, what distro are you using/what version of crawl are you running?

Thank you! I definitely should've used the angels more! I forget how fast piety accrues with TSO when one is primarily slaying demons. I had a manual of invo in my stash that I probably should've been using too, I pretty much stopped training it when I had all the (a)bilities at excellent. Next time...

YASD - HOHu wrecked by Gloorx Vloq =(

I was having my best game to date! First time I ever set foot into the extended endgame, I've only one once before as a HOBe with 3 runes. This game I managed 11! Got some good gear from Oka to carry me through the mid->endgame, including the AWESOME boots of running. Seriously these things saved my...

What does the "you evolve" mutation in trunk do? I can't seem to find it on the list (any of mutation lists really :?)

Edit: should have read the OP better =/

Hmmm maybe try making a copy of SDL_image.pc and renaming it sdl.pc in the PKG_CONFIG_PATH?
Also what directory were you in when you ran the submodule init command?

YAFVP!!! HOBe

Sooo I've been crawling for a few months now and have lost countless characters to YASDs. I finally got one through! Yey! I saved this game about halfway through and it almost broke when I pulled the latest trunk (the tile updates screwed it up a bit floor and walls were just black), soo this also t...
