Perhaps cursed items could be auto-inscribed {!w} (or other inscriptions depending on the context)? That would let the player clear the inscription if they wielded, say, an autocursing artifact often. |

You can do this yourself. Add the relevant autoinscriptions to your config file.
I am a bit tired of seeing smaller and smaller interface ideas take more and more space. |

I don't see why this shouldn't be default config behaviour, then; it's rather less likely that a player would want to equip a known cursed item than he wouldn't. And, if I may, interfaces are largely about small issues. |

The problem with autoinscribing !w is that curse status is something temporary, so players will want us to remove the inscription if an item becomes uncursed. In this case, I'm not sure autoinscriptions are the way to go.
Adding a prompt into the wear routines seems harmless enough, but what of artefacts with the curse status? (Incidentally, it's stuff like that trigger dpeg's complaint about smaller and smaller issues.) |
