(0025072) neil (administrator) 2014-01-24 21:20	It's not exclusively shifters; depending on power you could get things like fauns, temperature giants, foo dragons, etc. However, shifters do seem to dominate. This is in part because mons_zombifiable returns false for the deep elf monsters (there are no "deep elf annihilator zombies", only "elf zombies"). There is no fallback in the Kiku code or in pick_local_zombifiable_monster to try the genus instead, so it won't give plain elf corpses either. That causes the code to fall back to pick_monster_all_branches .

(0025081) magicpoints (reporter) 2014-01-26 03:34	Shapeshifters are normal spawns in Elf. Presumably the game is rerolling every time it tries to generate the corpse of a deep elf, and keeping the shapeshifter corpses.

(0025086) sgrunt (administrator) 2014-01-26 05:42	zombie_picker, used by pick_local_zombifiable_monster, now falls back to species properly as of 0.14-a0-2097-gfbeb56b, meaning you get almost entirely elf corpses in Elf.
