Summary 0006363: Ashenzari skill boost for bound armour is overly restrictive
Description I'm playing an ogre of Ashenzari and am wearing:

 mottled dragon armour
 cap
 cloak

All are cursed and this gives me "You are fully bound in armour." Yet, my Armour skill which is at 9.5 is NOT being boosted; only my stealth and dodging.

That is intentional: depending on your worn body armour, you get either a stealth/dodge boost ("light" armour), a dodge/armour boost ("medium" armour), or an extra (bondage + 1) armour boost ("heavy" armour).

Leaving the bug open because this variability doesn't make quite as much sense now that skill training is independent of worn armour.

I agree that the EVP criterion may not be the best one. With steam and mottled armours, you usually want some AC and the armour skill boost would be useful. Those 2 should really go into the medium armour category. So maybe, define light armour as ones with base AC < 5?
However, I think the medium/heavy armour separation works fine. At -4 EVP, you're not likely to get much EV from the dodging skill boost anyway. Using base AC as a limit wouldn't work so well.
Also, since the rule isn't obvious, maybe add the armour type in the item description? Or just when you worship Ash.

Would it be terribly problematic to just boost both? This would mostly be a boost to heavy armour (boosting dodge helps them more than boosting armour helps those with lots of evasion)

+1 to not looking at armour type. It's additional unneeded complexity.

If the armour is heavy enough to make dodging irrelevant, then the Dodging skill bonus doesn't either help nor hurt. Same for the Armour skill in a robe.

And advanced characters can have quite a lot dodging even in a plate.

What about stealth?
Currently, the skill boost for armour works like that:
Light (EVP < 2): stealth and dodging. Low/Medium bonus for partial/fully bounded.
Medium (2 <= EVP <= 3): dodging and armour. Low/Medium bonus for partial/fully bounded.
Heavy (EVP > 3): armour. Medium/High bonus for partial/fully bounded.

If we ignore armour type, I say we should boost all 3 skills with low (partial) or medium (full) bonus. Does that sound OK?
