Summary 0006060: autoexplore can skip the ocasional wall tile
Description Autoexplore sometimes skips looking at the occasional wall tile. I have never seen it skip a non-wall tile. Corner tiles are especially vulnerable.

I recently ran autoexplore through about 100 maps on Wizard mode after genociding (&G) all the monsters and this came up about 10 times.

Do you mean that autoexplore left some walls unexplored and then went to another room, or that it has fully explored the level, tells that it has finished but actually left those walls unexplored?

The former is a known issue, and is more a lack of optimization than a bug. The explore_wall_bias option tries to address it but it has issues of its own. I have never experienced the latter.

I have a habit of always pressing "X" before advancing to a next level, and notice this happening quite a lot, always on the top (and maybe left?) of the map. The square in question is on row 0, ie, !in_bounds(). There's no actual harm in this behaviour as that place is guaranteed to be impassable, but on the other hand, it looks jarring and leaks a bit of information.

It explored the whole map and said "done exploring" (or whatever it says). I don't think that I ever say this on the bottom or right (not sure about left), and I know the top cells were row 0. It definately skipped the top left corner once, but that doesn't say anything about left.
