But you did have them in range, right? So I miss what would be wrong here.

If I recall correctly the spell doesn't splash, except among sheep (going by the bots here), which I guess is a bit of a joke.

If the breath weapon splashes from adjacent enemies to adjacent allies and turns them hostile it's counterproductive to anyone with permanent or temporary allies. You can't even reasonably expect it, since it behaves differently than the spell (and it's not explained anywhere that I can see). I thought it was an oversight. If it's intended, well, alright!

The breath weapon always splashes onto monsters that are adjacent to both you and the target, I believe. Not sure if an exception should be made for allies... it's not like you'd know that's how it works unless you checked the source code, at least.

That's the problem, that I didn't see it coming, and I've been playing the game for quite a while. Sticky flame is strong enough without splashing, anyway. If it does splash, it could spare allies if only because it damages quite a few builds without the player having any idea in advance.

I guess the splash should be shown when targetting, and give a warning about hurting allies as well.

The targetting mode has quite a few idiosyncracies, it needed a custom targetting module on its own. But fortunately, this is now doable -- and done.

Only the ally warning to go.
