Summary 0004396: Feature Request - Track Spell Usage for Morgue
Description This is a feature request / enhancement.

Per this tavern post, item (c):
https://crawl.develz.org/tavern/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2355 [^]

Request the game track the number of each type of spell cast.
Now that victory dancing spells is gone (mostly; gaining the initial skill requires some minor irrelevant pre-dancing of at least one spell), it makes sense to track the number of each spell cast.

These values could be presented in the morgue file of each character, along with a percentage based on all spells cast.

This would help people know how much they use a particular spell for gauging future gameplay.

Spell usage should be tracked across the game life regardless of whether the spell is forgotten.

This is indeed a great idea, but Mantis is only for reporting bugs and submitting patches. FR go on the wiki.

Excited! Of course, I can still only see 9_15. :(

KB, of note in the commit, I see you may (or may not, not sure about reading the commit) have removed

did_god_conduct(DID_SPELL_CASTING, 1 + random2(5));

from a miscast.

Is that OK?

XuaXua: what is that "9_15" you mentioned?

About not making miscasts break the casting conduct: it seemed to be a bug to me -- it is arguable whether it is one. Would someone have an opinion here?

I think the mentioned 9_15 is 0.9.0-15, the current version of unstable windows binaries. Getting 0.10-a0 instead would be nice.

Miscasts are still attempts at casting. I don't think Trog would be fine with that.

Correct; 9_15 is shorthand referral to build 0.9.0-15

Per issues I open, will not close / confirm issue till I check latest build.
