Summary | 0004265: Nemelex Early OP Experience Card / Manual Mode | ||||||||||||
Description |
Found an D:2 Nem altar, sacrificed all scrolls and potions, an ornate deck of wonders, got 40,000 XP. Granted, this is a low-probability event, but still, it is extremely powerful, especially that early. Galehar mentioned scaling XP from card with XL as possible fix for OPness. Also, Experience cards or Potions will immediately allocate XP with the new system, which may not be desirable. I got +5 Spc, Cha, +18 Stealth instantly from the first card. 20 Stealth is nice in some ways, but, I would have preferred to have more choice as to where I spent it. XP could be distributed over time, possibly as a XP multiplier until all bonus XP is used up. That would allow me to have much more control as to where I spend it. |

We already have sage and new manuals which give bonus XP over time. I'm not sure we need more of it. On the other hand, forcing the player to adjust his skill settings before drawing from deck of wonders (or quaff iding) isn't good at all. How about after you draw/quaff, you get a message, a more prompt and then you're taken to the skill screen. Make some adjustments and when you exit, skills are trained. Regarding the amount of XP provided by the card, I think we should just remove the 20k bonus. It made sense while there was a cap to the xp pool, but not anymore. Also, when the cap was removed, the card got a significant buff. I ran some numbers, and the bonus can reach 46k. So I suggest we turn it around and use 20k as a max, not a min. Or maybe cap common at 15k, rare at 20k and legendary at 30k. Those caps can be reached only with good evocations and good nemelex piety. See below for numbers. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqvhLOPFHpiMdFNWZkxxSFkzVEVQb1poN3FVMnFWZnc&hl=en_US [^] |

I made the change to the amount of experience the card gives you as suggested by Galehar. I don't think being able to assign the experience is as big of a deal since you're getting a much more reasonable amount now. |
