Summary 0004254: auto equip is equipping melee weapon w/o obvious cause
Description I have run into problems with crawl choosing to equip my melee weapon when I am wielding a sling. This has happened a few times on my priest. I think it might be related to "recite" but this is a long shot hunch. Duplicated it, have a game where its equipping staff upon completing an autoexplore. The level is already explored. So I can a) equip sling, b) click autoexplore & c) the game equips my staff.

This is the auto_switch option being activated when autoexplore destroy toadstools. I guess we'll see a lot of reports like that if we don't do something. We can either:

default the option to off
disable it when autoexploring
switch back after toadstool is destroyed

option 3 is the best, but we might want to default the option to off anyway.

+1 to defaulting to off, at least in 0.9.

It's a new feature that's meant to only provide some convenience, and appears to be pretty buggy.

ok I've disabled the auto_switch when destroying toadstools in autoexplore
Also the turn ends properly after switching weapons..
