Summary | 0002984: Interface for mutation resistance | ||||||||||||
Description |
The character screen (Shift-5) shows "Res. Mut." in the same way as poison resistance and electricity resistance. However, apparently there are actually three levels of the mutation "mutation resistance". It's confusing because it looks like the resistance is either on or off, like poison or electricity, but if you have the mutation, the . does not become a +. Suggestion: display Res. Mut. with "..." and show how many levels of resistance the player has. With an amulet of mutation resistance or Zin at max piety it would show +++, with mut res 1 it would show +... |

I don't recall the specifics of all of them, but different sources of rMut work differently, so this would be a misrepresentation. |

What other sources cause the + to be checked? Is it just the amulet? Perhaps it could be done in a similar way to magic resistance, for which there is no +++ system, just a qualitative description like "you are somewhat resistant to mutations" to "you are incredibly resistant / immune to mutations". Given the complexity of mutation resistance, a single ./+ is inadequate and arguably also a misrepresentation. |

See https://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dcss:brainstorm:interface:ideas&s[]=mutation#pluses_on_menu [^] rmut1&2 gives 66%, amulet 90%, rmut3 immunity and Zin's protection from 75% to 100%. rmut2 also gives 50% chance to resist remove mutation. Also, they don't really stack. Meaning if you've got both the amulet and rmut1, then you have 96.6% chance of resisting. The mechanism is a bit different then other 3 levels resists. I think to make the interface more clear we would first need to change the resistance mechanism. |

The Mantis discussion moved here: https://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dcss:brainstorm:interface:interface_ideas&#pluses_on_menu [^] This isn't a bug and discussion of different types of rMut is best kept in other channels. |
