Summary 0002454: cloud glyphs (was: clouds out of LOS)
Description Not sure if this is actually bug or not, but clouds are now remembered on your map when they become out of your LOS. This can be quite annoying if you use spells like poisonous cloud a lot, you end up with big patches of # on your map, making it difficult to tell which are walls or clouds. This would also be bothersome in places like the Cloud Mage and Iskenderun wizlabs where large portions of the map have constant cloud generators. You can't even clear them with Ctrl+C for some reason.

It's a bug (or rather it was missed when redoing the map knowledge stuff), though not showing clouds outside LOS (new in 0.7 I think) also feels a bit weird sometimes.

I think it would be ok if clouds had a different glyph than walls, not being able to tell which is which is the big problem, aswell not being able to easily clear them without going back to where they are, for temp clouds from spells

+1 to st.

Clouds using the same glyph as walls in 7-bit mode is a glaring problem.

I think ` (backtick) has been suggested as an alternative in the past, I think it could work.

I use + as my cloud glyph, but it might not be the best default.

Watching clouded's game, ` seems pretty acceptable except that it looks weird when it conflicts with the beam glyph. This is pretty minor though, and a great deal better than the current situation in my opinion.

I tested with - for clouds, but it seems pretty easy to overlook when playing around with dangerous clouds (meph, etc.).

I'd go with & for clouds, 0 for pan lords.

The opposite version could work too, just 0 would be consistent with 1-5.

Wouldn't reverse-branded # work? St's ` makes it hard to tell the exact boundries of large clouds at a glance - it's too uncentered.

I use 0 for portals, + for clouds. I like + because it works nicely when clouds cover closed doors (which is a bug). ` is a bit too hard see for my tastes, although ' is slightly better.

# is fine with Unicode, since walls are a different glyph. So if a change is made, the Unicode glyphs can probably stay the same, unless the new glyphs just objectively look better.

Isn't the Orb of Zot a 0?

Clouds are not on '#' anymore, since ages ago.
