This would still respect signature weapons/weapon schools (these exist for uniques, right?), and such, right? |

This is good. I think it should avoid stealing items from vaults, though. |

This would be very interesting, but I have a few issues with it:
1) It could potentially make the affected unique's difficulty either unusually low or impossibly high. (Though this might be acceptable; I'm probably not familiar enough with Crawl's philosophy to know.)
2) If the unique gets a bad artifact, shouldn't they realize that on some level and switch it out for something better? But then there's the question of how they would define something as "bad", so this might be best left ignored.
3) If there are two artifacts generated in a level with a unique that would use them (e.g., a robe and a scythe on a level with Sigmund) would he get one or both? And suppose that Jessica was created on the same level - what would be the process for determining who gets what? |

I'm not so sure about this - don't uniques already sometimes have a chance to generate with such items? And if an item is on the floor they could end up wandering and picking it up anyway. It seems like unnecessarily forcing an effect that could happen anyway. |

Monster never get artefacts, other than those hard-coded to do so. They are allowed to pick up most of them later, though. |
