Summary 0011760: Temple branch being cloned into Abyss
Description During OpMo for CSDC, my game's Temple branch was being cloned into the Abyss. This was most notable because my Temple was surrounded by water and open sea tiles. The Abyss continually made large stretches of open sea tiles which are impassable.

Morgue is here: https://crawl.project357.org/morgue/YTcomUltraviolent4/morgue-YTcomUltraviolent4-20181107-062800.txt [^]

I entered the Abyss voluntarily through a portal on Depths 1. There was no water on this particular Depths floor.

At this point in my game, you can see the exact Temple: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA6oAAKKTGU&feature=youtu.be&t=2253 [^]

Here is the Temple branch: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/205316046230388737/511714802209652755/open_sea_temple.png [^]

Here's a picture showing open sea in the Abyss: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/205316046230388737/511669635964338196/open_sea_abyss.png [^]

After my experience, I received this comment from a viewer:

"Abyss generation seems to steal features from the main dungeon at times. For example, I have a megazigging character and my visits to the abyss on that character have featureless open areas (from shattering entire levels of dungeon floor) and huge masses of abandoned shops (due to gozag shenanigans)."

I'll try to see if they have a savefile for that game.

Dungeon maps appear in Abyss all the time. Why do you think this is a bug? I always thought this was a feature.

The bug in this case is the generation of open sea and (in some cases) endless lava tiles which are confusingly impassable (they act as iron grates).

Even if dungeon features being cloned is intended, open sea or endless lava should not spawn, because these tiles are intended solely to mark the edge of finite floors (eg in Shoals, the Temple in this case, or some other vaults)
