Summary | 0011699: Dazzling spray causes crash most of the time. | ||||||||||||
Description |
I guess this was fixed in 17.2, years ago. But for some reason no ones bothered to update the Linux version for a super long time. I thought perhaps it was a matter of Mint software center being behind. But then I followed the install instructions and "I already have the latest" of 17.1 (having already installed from software center) I installed the nontile version and that's ALSO 17.1. Come on, please give Linux a up to date version. I was torn between "always" and "sometimes" because it crashes like 80% of the time I use dazzling spray. Whatever, the main point of this is to get the update on Debian Linux, since the bugs already fixed it seems. |

We release debian packages with every crawl version, and https://crawl.develz.org/debian/dists/crawl/ [^] is up-to-date. The instructions are at: https://crawl.develz.org/download.htm#linux [^] Can you clarify if these are the instructions you followed? |

Those are the instructions I followed and the result was installation of 17.1. I am using Mint 18.2 |

So has a dev gotten a chance to confirm the issue or what? I really want to play a version that doesn't crash most every dazzling spray, and of course any other improvements since 17.1 too. |

We really need someone with debian expertise to look at this, which I unfortunately don't have. However, from some googling I suspect this is a linux mint issue, in that it doesn't seem to use the same sources list (/etc/apt/sources.list) that other debian setups use. The behavior you describe looks like apt-get is simply ignoring that file. If you're comfortable with messing with system stuff, I'd recommend following those instructions but instead using `/etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list`. It's not something I have tested (or have any way of testing), though, and we don't have any devs who use linux mint. Alternatively (or in addition) I'd consider filing a bug report with whoever does linux mint packaging -- we generate the debs but have no control over how they are used (or aren't used) downstream. |

The update for this showed up in my update list and now I am current. |

I am using Mint 18.2, by following instructions I succeeded to get 0.22 version running on it. |

Thanks for the update. There seems to be some related discussion here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=278972 [^] As far as I can tell in that thread our debian instructions do work as-is on current linux mint. (And for the record, most of the devteam besides me uses linux, as do all of the public crawl servers; linux is probably our best supported platform. We just don't have direct experience with Mint.) |
