I think the fix for zooming in too much is going to be "don't do that", at least for the time being. It'd be possible to make scrollers work horizontally as well as vertically, but it'd take some work.

The text on the skills screen overflowing is a bug; it should just be truncated until the skills UI gets a HTML implementation.

Ah, specifically for the ?# screen, I'm planning to wrap that text to a reasonable column width; probably 105 characters.

Report 0011593 (a duplicate of this one) has confirmed my suspicions that on lower resolution computer screens than the one I use (1920x1080), ?# overflows the edge of the screen on normal zoom.

A partial fix is at https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/19e28b46dc1c; [^] this wraps the notes and messages to 80 columns, which are the usual contributors to very long lines. Unfortunately, on longer games, the skill tables at the bottom of the dump have a tendency to grow horizontally; these are less easily fixed.
