Summary 0010989: WJC, wall-jump issues: unneeded screen redraw.
Description When you attempt to wall-jump without a target, screen blinks; when you try to wall-jump at non-empty square, screen doesn't blink. It strikes Me as inconsistency; in my opinion, there is no need for redraw in the first case.

I believe that if you're playing on non-console, this flash is actually highlighting the intended target space as well as flashing the whole screen, though it may be too subtle -- the idea being to provide some feedback on where the wall jump would land. There's no possible landing spot if there's no room to wall jump so it doesn't flash.

On console (as far as I can tell) it just flashes, which is kind of annoying.

I'm leaving this open since these visual indicators could be improved.

I believe this was for a previous version of wall jump, but in any case, the visual indicators for the ability trigger for wall jump solved the problem that the flash was trying to solve.
