I really wish you would describe the bug. With text. Adding files as a supplement is fine, but the problem should be clear from the text.

Indeed. This arises from the rod/staff split, and is apparently somewhat tricky to fix; edlothiol is looking into it. The difference between this case and staves is that, like spellbooks, rods' subtype and appearance are unrelated. The difference between this case and spellbooks is that rods get a label icon for their subtype, while spellbooks do not.

I think that's pretty straightforward.
Then I tell you what to look for.
Look in inventory. Check out Rod of Summoning.

Maybe I could have wrote "rods in inventory are missing their images", but I didn't.

The only other way to describe it is to screencap and there's no point if I have the .cs file.

XuaXua: Actually, it's not necessarily true that the screencap would be pointless. If there were some problem with your installation, or if the bug were specific to certain option settings, the problem might not be visible to a developer who loaded your save. In this case, however, it turned out not to be necessary.

Fixed, but the subtype icons aren't displayed anymore for rods on the floor. Changing that would require either a big refactoring or an ugly hack, neither of which I'm willing to do at the moment.

Is there a separate bug to record the subtypes issue?

Now that ammo is no longer enchantable and subtypes are automatically known, it would make sense to also show ammo subtypes on the floor.
