What's the bug here? The player wants 10 rations inscribed differently than the other 5. Should the game assume they are wrong, and want them all stacked with the same inscription? I think not, in which case the only option is to make them different stacks. I can imagine actually wanting to do this on purpose under, say, Fedhas, by marking 8 rations as !e to make sure you have them available for Oklobs or whatever, while the rest of your rations are edible. Likewise imagine marking 3 !tele as !r to save them for "real" emergency use, and using the others more freely. |

Hm. You bring up good points, and I think I was too hasty in my original judgment that this is necessarily buggy behavior.
That said, I'm not sure whether it's good or not that these multi-stacks of the same item are taking up multiple inventory spaces. This is a very niche issue though, and I suspect resolving that question may not be worth the time to think about it. |

I want to note that items without inscription have no problems stacking with the inscribed ones. So to have 3 ?tele marked as !r for emergency you also have to inscribe the rest of the scrolls with something else (if you don't have autoinsription from rc file). And it's a question yet as to which stack newly obtained scrolls will go.
Oh, and please don't make inscribed and not isncribed items not to stack. For example, sometimes trove asks for a number of certain items, so here it's useful to inscribe and have them stacking. |
