There's only room for three characters. We could display it as "99+" but that would be confusing. Perhaps ">1K" (with a greater-than-or-equal, but Mantis doesn't seem to like that).

I looked at this and see two other solutions:
a) there technically is space for four characters; each digit is 8 pixels wide. So we could squeeze a four-digit number in if we remove the leading space. This will look kind of yucky, but how often do you have a stack of over a thousand items?
b) I (or somebody) could draw a new set of digits with width 6 or 7, which would allow 4 digits to fit comfortably.

ontoclasm: how are these (7x14 each)? I didn't have much luck trying to do a closed '4' at that size, though. They're significantly heavier than the current numeral font, in a probably over-enthusiastic attempt to make up for the slightly smaller size.
Edit: For comparison, uploaded the old numeral glyphs as a single image

Those look fine; they're honestly more readable than the existing ones in my opinion.

Fixed in trunk (0.15-a0-2267-g6a4e72f), thanks! Now it will go up to 9999; if you manage to get a bigger stack than that, you deserve whatever UI inconvenience you get :P |
