Summary | 0008305: Auto-identify jewelry upon wearing. | ||||||
Description |
Editing this report for clarity. We have plans to auto-id jewelry (including artefacts) upon wearing. wheals has a patch for this that will likely go in 0.15 after 0.14 branches, so tagging for 0.15. Feel free to resolve when said patch is merged. Original report from Arrrhythmia: Okay, so, if I am a mummy and I am hit by an unidentified dagger of poison while wearing an unidentified ring of resist poison i will automatically ID the ring of resist poison despite the fact that I am intrinsically rPois and I didn't even know the dagger was poisonous in the first place. http://i.imgur.com/f7tcTJp.png [^] |

We can certainly try this, and I don't like players jumping through hoops for tiny identification gains. However, the following thread shows that there is more to the id minigame than players might think: https://crawl.develz.org/tavern/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11414&view=viewpoll [^] In other words, let's try this change once 0.15 is out, but also with an eye towards thinking how id could be made more interesting (rather than flat out removed). |

Done in 0.15. I agree that keeping the identification game interesting is not something we should forget about, though. |
